Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must read all the eligibility criteria before applying for the exam. If you need to get a certificate or any relevant document you should get it beforehand as UPSC will not consider them any further beyond the last dates given. So get all the required certificates, documents etc. –get prepared in advance.

How to apply: Candidates have to fill up the application form for the exam by visiting the website http://www.upsconline.nic.in. They will get all the instructions for filling up the form in a proper way on the website itself. The application form is filled in two stages –Part1 and Part 2. Candidates also have to pay a fee of INR 100 only. Some candidates like the ones who belong to SC/ST, females, physically handicapped are exempted from this payment of a fee. This fee can be paid through various payment methods like internet banking, credit card, debit card, deposit of cash in banks etc. (You can find the names of the authorized banks on the above-mentioned website) Before filing the application form you have to get your passport size photo and signature duly scanned in JPG format. Photo image should not be less than 3 KB and more than 40 KB and the signature image should be of 1KB.

Admission Certificate: The e-admission certificate will be available for downloading three weeks before the exam date, on UPSC website (http://www.upsc.gov.in.)

Penalty: In objective type question papers, negative marking will be done for every wrong answer by the candidates. All the candidates should always keep this in mind and mark the answers carefully.

Other Information
a) Any communication devices like mobile phones, pagers, smart watches etc. are strictly prohibited in the examination hall. If any candidate is seen using them in the examination hall, strict action will be taken against him or her, he or she may lose his or her candidature for the present and future exams.

b) Any costly and valuable items are also not advised to bring in the examination hall for safety purposes.
